SUMMARY:Understanding Community Responsibility Towards Gender and Sexuality
DESCRIPTION:For everyone who is interested in understanding the various forms of human relationship\, and how we might work together to bring about a healthier community life. \nA healthy relationship to gender and sexuality supports our wellbeing\, both as individuals and as a community. The form of sex education that we bring to children and adolescents not only needs to combat the inner disturbances and imbalances created by social media and exposure to pornography – as the most prevalent sources of implicit sex-eduction in our time – but it also needs to serve them in cultivating useful capacities with which to meet the growing societal changes around this fundamental aspect of being human. \nThe responsibility of a healthy and socially constructive sex education belongs to the primary caregivers\, parents\, teachers as well as individuals in the wider community\, because we all contribute to the collective consciousness. \nWorking to overcome our own biases and imbalances will prepare us to more readily awaken to the spiritual wisdom that can bring health and harmony into the evolving reality of gender and sexuality.

And we have no doubt whatsoever that we must\, the moment we perceive the truth about our own nature and its relationship with the wider world.” Rudolf Steiner\nOur patterns of thinking\, our feelings and our will impulses are directly influenced by the community in which we grow. The foundations of both inner freedom and unfreedom are laid down through the course of childhood. With the rise of technology permeating extensively our outer lives\, we are now being faced with its effects on our inner lives and its artificial influence over the development of thinking\, feeling and will impulses. Technology is forming our community’s future and in doing so extending its persuasive influence into the inner capacities of its members.\nWe can choose to be ready as individuals\, and as a collective community\, with capacities—with the necessary inner strengths—to freely choose the way of life we determine to be supportive of the progression of humanity. DESCRIPTION:Work with students in Class 5 to 11 will be between August 13 to 17. \nAn evening lecture for parents of Kinder to Class 7 students with Lisa Romero will be on Monday August 13th at 6pm. And for parents of Class 7 to 12 students the lecture will be on Thursday August 16th at 6pm. \nLisa Romero has been offering this contribution to the Wellbeing Curriculum for students at Cape Byron Rudolf Steiner School for almost a decade. The component starts the year the child turns 11 years old\, an age when the growth in the child’s body and soul develops towards puberty and becomes ready to receive more conscious pictures around gender and sexuality. Before that age\, a child experiences and learns about their place in the world according to how the community thinks and behaves. Learning about gender and sexuality evolves out of how the family and community refer to the child and how society refers to or sees behind race\, sex\, gender\, and other physical or cultural differences in people. We leave the other free when we recognise their individual capacities and support them towards working from these capacities in life.\nThere are now a number of facilitators from Developing the Self Developing the World who now also deliver the module. DESCRIPTION:Vital Years Conference\nWe live in a world where we find ourselves ever becoming short of time and space to consciously strengthen our spiritual practice. It is this practice that serves us daily as our foundation and wellspring to then be able to serve others. \nThe Vital Years Conference will be held over 4 days at the Middle Cove Campus of Glenaeon Rudolf Steiner School in Sydney.
